Meet the Governors

Statutory Governor Requirements

Governors hold an important public office and their identity should be known to their school and wider communities. In the interests of transparency, the governing body publishes up-to-date details of its governance arrangement.

Mr David Rushton

Chair of Governors,

Co-opted Governor

My daughter attended Weaverham Forest. In work, I am a programme manager and try to bring the knowledge and experience I have from work into the operation of the governing body. I am also an Explorer Scout Leader and enjoy spending time pursuing outdoor activities. At school my favourite subject was Geography.

Mrs Lisa Cook

Parent Governor

I have been privileged to have children in our school for the past nine years, my eldest are now at High School and my two boys are currently in KS1 and 2.

With a background in teaching and as a mother I am very pleased to have this opportunity to be part of the team at Weaverham Forest that supports the children and staff in achieving all they do

Mrs Kath Burgess

Safeguarding Governor

My four daughters attended Weaverham Forest Primary School and during that time I was a parent governor. Now my two granddaughters are pupils at the school. I am a recently retired senior lecturer from the University of Liverpool where I was Head of the Directorate of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy for eight years. I have a keen interest in local football and enjoy watching most sports. I help to run the Cheshire Girls Football League which keeps me very busy on Saturday mornings. Although I am still involved with my profession at a national level, I am keen to support my local primary school where our children begin their educational journey and develop their aspirational goals for their future lives and careers.

Cllr Charles Fifield

I live in Acton Bridge and work locally as a Chartered Surveyor. I am married and have 3 children. I became a Local Authority Governor of Weaverham Forest in 2011 following my election as a Local Councillor for Weaver & Cuddington ward. My favourite subject at school was History.

Mr Russell Prigmore

Co-opted Governor

I'm a member of the curriculum committee and finance and personnel.

Dr Ken Baird

Co-opted Governor

My three children all attended Forest Street School and my granddaughter enrolled in 2015. I taught (1 year) in a Grammar School in Northern Ireland and I lectured in a college of further education before joining the pharmaceutical industry in which I have worked since 1982. I have been self-employed for the last 15 years. During this time I have learned a lot about leadership, finance, interpersonal skills and people management. I have also been a magistrate in Cheshire for the past 23 years and chairman of our local scout group for over 10 years.

Mr David Erne

Headteacher

I have been the Headteacher here at Weaverham Forest Primary School, since 2014. I am immensely proud of the work we do here at Weaverham Forest and am passionate about providing opportunities to inspire, so that every child has the tools to become a life-long learner.

Mrs Melissa Rayner

Deputy Headteacher

I have been Deputy Head at Weaverham Forest Primary School since 2012.  I am the school’s designated Safeguarding Lead and believe the well-being of our children and staff plays a vital role in the successful learning here at Forest Street.

Mr Mike Hornby

Co-opted Governor, Vice Chair of Governors

I was a pupil at Weaverham Forest, as were my two sons.

Now retired, I worked for HM Revenue and Customs, latterly as a policy officer at HMRC HQ.

My principal role at school is as a classroom volunteer, presently with Year 2, so as a Governor I try to maintain links and a watching brief on school life.

There are currently no members of staff earning £100,000 or more.
